Sad news. After more than six months of battling with inoperable brain cancer A.J. Peterson, son of former Chicago ‘Bears’ player Adrian Peterson, has died. The ‘Bears’ shared the news with Twitter fans on Tuesday.
“Sending deepest condolences to former #Bears RB Adrian Peterson and family on passing of his young son A.J., who lost battle w/ brain cancer,” tweeted the team.
A.J. was diagnosed with brain cancer last June after his parents noticed that his equilibrium was off, and his speech was slurred. “On June 18, AJ appeared scatter brained, imbalanced and had slurred speech,” wrote Adrian and wife Angela in a letter addressed to supporters. “After being seen by the pediatrician, she sent us directly to the ER. After blood work and a CT scan, we waited for results. The doctors determined that there was a mass (tumor) in his brain stem.” The couple added, “We were completely devastated when doctors gave us a prognosis of 5-9% survival rate.”
Although they were hoping for the best, the Petersons saw their son take his final breaths earlier this week. The family currently has a fund called ‘A.J. Soars’ set up for their son that they are inviting supporters to contribute to. A.J. was Adrian and Angela’s eldest son. The couple has four kids in all.
