Bella and the Bulldogs is an exciting new Nickelodeon show that is set to premier on January 17th. The series follows Bella, a perky cheerleader who surprises everyone by becoming the new quarterback of her junior high football team. However, the obstacles she will face as a girl on the team are endless, perhaps the most prominent being The Troy, played by Coy Stewart.
The Troy in unhappy with being dethroned as the team’s star player and is determined to take Bella down. In an exclusive with Fanlala, Coy admitted that while his character is cocky, fighting for his dream is “the right thing to do”. The 16-year-old Are We There Yet? star has been gaining attention since 2011 when he won a Young Artists Award. In 2012, Coy’s father published a book that chronicles Coy’s journey in the business.
In December 2013, Coy was cast in the pilot of Bella and the Bulldogs, which has since been picked up for another 12 episodes. The 2-part premier will follow Bella as she faces tryouts with a team that will stop at nothing to get her to give up.
“My favourite part, and the thing that everyone is going to love is the fact that she follows her dreams,” Coy said. He added, “Especially young girls who watch this are going to see this and hopefully realize they can do whatever they do.”
