Just weeks away from delivering, Kelly Rowland discussed her excitement with Elle, and what kind of experiences she’s had with her first pregnancy.
In a recent photoshoot with Lance Gross, the songstress stripped down to highlight the beauty of motherhood. On the somewhat controversial topic of nude pregnancy photos, Kelly had a positive message to share with those who get “flack” at the subject. “I don’t know why they would get flack. It’s really—I won’t say amazing—it’s Godmazing [laughs] watching your body carry a human. I took a birthing class and I was amazed by all the things this woman was saying to me about birthing and what the body does naturally. Why wouldn’t you want to celebrate that? The body should be celebrated.”
And yes, she is as thrilled by the experience of creating life as she seems. “I can’t wait until he gets here,” she said. The pregnancy might have been a surprise, but it was certainly a welcome one. She told Elle, “I believe I spoke it into existence during a conversation with my friend, and I feel like I became pregnant overnight!”
So it seems like the timing was just right.
Clearly, staying healthy throughout her pregnancy has been very important to Kelly. She admits that she has her cravings, but she is a firm believer in the easier delivery and restful sleep that staying fit can provide. “I did modify my exercise routine a bit by just listening to my body.” She explained, “I would tell my trainer [Jeanette Jenkins] ‘This move doesn’t feel right,’ and we’d modify it.”
Staying healthy also meant avoiding any toxins which has set her up with a whole new beauty regimen. The former Destiny’s Child singer said that after switching to all-natural products, such as cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil her skin has never looked better. ” I’m going to continue to just use those after the baby gets here.”
On the topic of life a celeb mom, Kelly said she plans to simply go with the flow, and find her normal. Moreover, she feels strongly that she is perfectly capable of balancing work and family. Looking to mega stars such as Diana Ross and Donna Summers, Kelly says she too can do it. “I think ‘what makes me different?'” she noted.
And she isn’t losing any time. Next week, the singer is heading into the studio and she is rocking her watch launch with TW Steel. “And because I’ve been shopping for this little one, and it’s so hard to find stuff for boys, I’m intrigued to do a children’s line.”
As much as the public is looking forward to meeting this little guy, Kelly and her husband are simply over the moon. “I’m excited to bring a child into the world, and sharing that experience with my husband is probably the most beautiful part.”
