Astro, who turned 18 on August 26th, proves his talent extends far beyond his years in his new single, “88”. The song, as you might guess, is structured around a sense of nostalgia for the late 1980s. Despite not being around back then, Astro’s lyrics, samplings, and style all come together perfectly well to create an image those a little older may recall.
The young rapper, born Brian Bradley, gained national attention in 2011 as a finalist on The X Factor. Just weeks after being eliminated, he was featured on Cher Lloyd’s track “Want U Back” and began an acting career. He starred in Person of Interest and will also be part of the main cast in Fox’s upcoming teen-drama, Red Band Society. He has also had film roles in a couple of major pictures including Earth to Echo, and is rumored to be appearing in Space Jam 2.
His new album, Computer Era, is set for release this fall.
