China McClain had the honour of hosting this year’s Arthur Ashe Kid’s Day, which even included a performance by McClain.
The annual event celebrates the life of the great Tennis champion, Arthur Ashe, and promotes the game and its health benefits to youth. Tickets to the show in the Arthur Ashe stadium were available, but a free grounds festival was also held, featuring music and interactive games for all ages. Every year, so many celebrities of both the sport, and the entertainment business in general, make it out to support this unique event. The proceeds benefit the National Junior Tennis and Learning Network.
In the past , young up and coming starlets such as Sean Kingston and Ne-Yo have been there to support the cause. China looked happy to take the lead this year, celebrating this first event of the U.S. Open. It’s a great way to get kids and teens excited about sports and physical activity, not to mention breed the next batch of tennis legends!
China is also currently busy in her acting career. Disney Channel’s How to Build a Better Boy premiered earlier this month, with China co-starring as a nerdy teen who uses science and tech to help her BFF show up the popular crowd. Of course, when things go awry, action and hilarity ensues. The film also featured a special McClain song. “Working with my sisters is always fun,” the 15-year-old told us.
