Although Lil’ Wayne is an obvious influence in Reginae’s young career, she said that Rihanna is a very important musical role model. Not only does the teen star love her musical style, but also her personality. “I just love her attitude.” No surprise then that when asked what would be her dream collaboration, she cited Nikki Minaj and Rihanna, who would “add the spice.”

It’s clear that Reginae is looking to be known for her talents and hard work, and not just for being her father’s daughter. “I love music because I can express myself in musical terms,” she explained. “Listening to my music I want ppl to say ‘wow she’s different, she’s young but she has soul, she’s young but she’s wise’…I want everyone to just know my music is real.”

As passionate as she is about being a recording artist, it’s hardly her only venture. She is currently the junior ambassador for Hairfinity, a product she absolutely swears by. She says after watching her mother use it for years, she was very impressed with the results. “I was so happy when they came to me”, she added.

As an entrepreneur, Reginae is very excited about expanding her clothing line, the Reginae Carter Collection. She told the room that she came up with the “Shut Up” logo because it seemed like a fun idea to be able to wear your thoughts, especially since so many people always have so much to say. Much like the logo itself, she describes the line as “young, and it’s cute.”

While the process can be tedious, Reginae definitely puts a lot of thought into it. “I wanna have a style ourselves,” she said, representing youth culture. The style she envisions is not too young, nor too old. That way, she said, “we can rock it.”

When asked about her own style, she said that she doesn’t necessarily have just one, but prefers to dress for her mood each day. “I just love all types of styles, I like being different.”

With so much going on, we simply had to ask, what of acting? Could that be in the works for Miss Carter?

“I love acting,” she responded. ” She pointed out that at the moment she has too much on her plate, but that in the future it is something she would really like to pursue. In fact, she said she always wanted to have her own Disney Channel show – so that may be worth keeping our eyes peeled for.

Even being a big sister is a job now! We asked how she felt about the role and she exclaimed that she just loved it, and even admitted to being quite protective of her three younger brothers.

And then there is charity. The young star discussed a little about getting signed at the Boys and Girls Club, and how she is thrilled to be able to give back. Recognizing devastating issues in the world today, “the Ferguson thing, and the starvation that’s going on,” Reginae said that can’t wait to start helping out on a social level.

The starlet also took time to talk about her excitement for her Sweet 16, which is coming up in November. So far all she’s sure of is that it will be a big event, that she wants to catch everyone’s eye in three stunning outfits, and that she wants a car – but at the moment she’s unsure of what type to hope for.

As the Q&A came to a close, Reginae noted that her album was still without its release date but assured us that she was working hard on her EP. “I want ppl to know my name,” she added.
