Ciara stopped by NBC to talk everything from how motherhood has changed her life, to her new music, to her evolving style. The singer discussed how being a mother means for her learning to do more, and being excited by those challenges.
Ciara was thrilled to announce that her son “is an amazing baby” who even sleeps through the night, and that his shoe collection is catching up to her own! But she also pointed out that having friends at the Jordan shoe company doesn’t hurt at all. “He really is my angel”, she added. “I have to work even harder. I go from the mommy gym, to the real gym, to the stage, and I have to do more.” Ciara explained that the experience has made her connect even more to her role as a Degree woman in the Degree Do More campaign, which is meant to motivate women to work hard to achieve their goals.
One of Ciara’s personal goals is to release new music. She’s back in the studio, and loving it; “I’m living in music right now, I’m just being free in it.” The artist says she doesn’t have a release date for the new album yet because, “when the music says it’s time, we’re gunna go”. But she admits, even while challenging herself, she’s having fun. “In my eyes, I have the coolest job on Earth” the working mommy exclaimed.
On the topic of fashion, Ciara noted that she had always enjoyed style but certainly has a greater appreciation for it now. While working on House of Style with Degree, they put together an evolution of Ciara’s style by looking at past stage performances. “It was really fun, and funny,” she said. “I’ve been able to have some really cool friends along the way, or meet some really cool friends along the way in fashion, that also teach me a lot and they inspire me.”
As for maternity style, Ciara always looked fantastic. She told NBC that she believes the trick is not to over-think it, but to just live in it.
