R&B guru Ne-Yo will be contributing to Gabi Wilson’s debut album. Gabi tweeted excitedly that she is honored to be working with “the legendary” artist.
Recently, Gabi discussed her highly anticipated upcoming album on 106&Park, where she described it as being a “journey through different types of music.” The-year-old has been making waves in the music scene since she was 12, and performed on her birthday for Alicia Keys. Gabi is considered a music prodigy; she sings and plays five instruments, so it’s no wonder other artists are taking notice.
Gabi has said that the best advice a star has ever given her came from rapper Drake, who told her to remember to keep those who have always been there for her by her side as her fame grows.
Others participating in the young star’s debut album include Dernst “D’Mile” Emile, and Al Sherrod Lambert and Harmony Samuels. All are known for producing some of the biggest stars in R&B and hip hop, from Diggy Simmons to Chris Brown to Janet Jackson. If Gabi’s single “Something to Prove” is any evidence of what we can expect from her album, she is certainly on a good track. The song, which she performed in part at the 2014 BET Awards, is about making a guy prove himself before she commits. Gabi told Sway, “I do write about love. I’m 17, right? It may not be real love but I think I know what I’m talking about”, she joked.
The album is expected to hit stores later this year.
