Media personality, La La Anthony, recently admitted to Latina magazine that at times she feels selfish for not having a second child.
Kiyan, age 7, sometimes asks about getting a brother or sister which makes it more difficult, but that doesn’t mean she is planning on rushing into anything. “If I did have another child, the reason would be that I wouldn’t want my son to be alone in the world as an only child. But we’ll see.”
La La and NBA star husband Carmelo Anthony had their son in 2007 after being engaged for three years. They finally wed in 2010 and the ceremony was filmed and shared with the world as part of their reality TV series La La’s Full Court Life. Currently, Carmelo is a free agent, having just walked away from his contract with the NY Knicks. One thing he has made clear is that his family will be a major factor in his decision about where to go next.
Meanwhile, La La published a relationship-self-help book entitled The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness earlier this year. The book has received a lot of positive feedback. “Almost every day I get handfuls of people coming up to me and telling me, ‘Your book changed my life. You gave me confidence to leave an abusive relationship and believe in myself.’ To me that’s the true success, not necessarily being number one.”
Their busy, busy lives only make quality family that more special though. La La told the magazine, “My husband, my son and I have the best time when it’s just the three of us. It’s nice to all be together, put a movie on, lie in the bed and laugh. That’s my idea of a perfect, fun time.”
La La also discussed the special bond she shares with her own mother that she hopes to continue on with her son.
I always go to my mom for advice. Even when I went through crazy phases in my life, she allowed me to be me and never said, ‘You shouldn’t be doing that!’ She’d just give me the pros and cons and allowed me to make my own decisions. I hope I am my son’s best friend, and I want him to feel like he can come talk to me about anything—good or bad, because that’s what I used to do with my mom. If they can’t talk to you, that’s when they go to outside influences and they might make wrong choices.
