Eddie George’s life as a dad is being recognized by the masses. The former Heisman Trophy winner has been named the 2014 Daddy of the Year by Daddy and Company.
“Daddy and Company takes great pride in choosing its annual Daddy of the Year,” read a statement from Robert “Daddy” Nickell. “This year we have selected Eddie George who is a man of great achievement but in his heart his greatest moments come from being with his family and children. I have personally interviewed Eddie and believe him to be an outstanding father who understands how to listen, and nurture his children. We all know any man can be a father but it takes someone special to the dad.”
Robert Nickell, CEO of Daddy and Company, knows a little something about being a dad as he fathers seven children of his own. The columnist began his groundbreaking series entitled ‘My Life As A Dad’ in hopes of spreading the word about men who take their roles as fathers seriously.
Eddie George was every bit thrilled to receive the Daddy of the Year award from Nickell and his company. “I never really sought out to be Daddy of the Year, it’s just something I try to live every day, to be a better husband and a better father,” said the former athlete upon receiving the award. “My sons motivate me on a consistent basis to be a better man and hold me true to my own principals. They hold me accountable even when they’re not around, and to receive an award for that is truly an honor.”
Eddie George has one son, Eriq, with wife Tamara Johnson-George. The former NFL star also has a son named Jaire from a previous relationship. Learn more about ‘My Life As A Dad’ at Daddy and Company’s website.
