Shannon Allen is continuing her fight against Diabetes. The wife of Miami ‘Heat’ star Ray Allen recently hosted a fundraising event at CURVE boutique in Miami, Florida, that encouraged attendees to shop until they dropped.
Several wives of the Miami ‘Heat’ supported Shannon in her efforts to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
The Allens’ son, Walker, suffers from the disease, and has been featured in several commercials that ask for the public’s help in finding a cure. Walker even went took his request for more to be given to Diabetes research to Congress. “For [Walker] to be … in front of Congress to support children all over the world, it was, I think, such an incredible and empowering moment for him,” said Mrs. Allen of the experience. “Often we look around and say, ‘How come government doesn’t do this?’ or ‘How come President Obama doesn’t do this?’ But if we raise our voices, we can create some type of steamroll to get people [in political office] to understand.”
Shannon and Ray Allen parent five kids together. The couple has four sons and one daughter.
