Eyebrows raised when Marquise Jackson ranted about his father being a “no-show” to his graduation ceremony. Not only did the teenager put Curtis Jackson, a.k.a. 50 Cent, on blast for not attending one of the most important days of his life, but he also told the rap star that he accomplished a milestone without his help. Thousands of fans and critics were on Marquise’s side, telling Fiddy that he should be a better father to his son. Now Curtis has a response.
“I hadn’t received an invitation,” said 50 Cent of the incident during a recent interview with 106 & Park. “When he graduated, I was in Budapest (in Hungary) on a movie with Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law, and Jason Statham. I think, at some points, the reason why it actually comes out is because his mom is going to TMZ. I wish she’d find someone so she could leave me alone.”
Fiddy went on to express his desire to have a healthy relationship with his son but told the show’s hosts that his career often gets in the way. “It’s tough because you travel a lot and you move around. You still have to be able to provide those things that are really detrimental to a child being able to have a decent upbringing. A nice place to stay, private schools, and everything else they would actually require to have a good education. It’s tough because my relationship with my older son is dictated by his actual mom,” explained the star.
Fifty Cent and Marquise have been at odds with one another ever since a Twitter argument ensued a couple months back. Since then, Fiddy has been trying to reason with his eldest son but says Marquise’s mom, Shaniqua Tompkins, always interferes. Fifty Cent has two kids in all.
