Even though they are maturing into young women and gaining more independence from their parents with each passing day, Sasha and Malia are still the center of attraction for Michelle and Barack Obama. The First Lady recently sat down with Robin Roberts where she told the ‘Good Morning America’ co-host that her girls are the light of her life.
“They are still the light of our lives,” said Michelle. “It is not a day that goes by – and I’m trying to stress this to them – that I don’t worry about, that I am not thinking about their well-being and how they’re handling this stuff. I’m just so proud of how they have managed all this with poise and grace and maturity.”
Mrs. Obama has attributed much of Sasha and Malia’s ability to handle the spotlight well to the power of prayer. “Right now, whether you like me or the president, people in America are praying for those two little girls. And that’s one of the many reasons why they’re standing up straight,” explained the First Lady.
Sasha will celebrate her thirteenth birthday in June and Malia will turn 16-years-old in July. Sasha and Malia were seven and ten years old when their father won his first term as President of the United States in 2008.
