Motherhood has worked wonders for Jaimee Foxworth. The ‘Family Matters’ star tells OWN that her son, Michael Shaw Jr., has caused her to re-evaluate her lifestyle and make changes for the better.
“The defining moment for me to stop using drugs was when I was pregnant,” says the star. “I started thinking to myself, ‘Okay, when your son is two months old, how are you going to be able to smoke weed and occasionally drink and still be able to function day to day and make bottles and give him nap time and baths and all that?’ I made a prayer to God and I was like, ‘If you just give me the healthiest son, I will stop today.’ And I stopped. And I haven’t had a craving since.”
Foxworth boasts of being a hands-on mom, telling media that she wouldn’t have it any other way. “I am a full time mother and I love it,” explains the actress. “Being a mom has changed me in the best ways possible. It’s made me not worry about the tabloids, not worry about the comments that I see online, and to put all my love and all my strength and dedication into raising my son the way a young man should be raised.”
