Mariska Hargitay, Sandra Bullock, and let’s not forget about the Jolie-Pitt clan! All of these celebs have adopted kids and impacted the lives of many for generations to come. Whether in Third World countries or right here in the U.S.A, many celebrities have gotten the adoption fever and welcomed little ones into their homes. Take a look at eight of these extraordinary people who can be viewed as angels in disguise!
Mariska Hargitay
The actress adopted Amaya in 2011 after giving birth to her eldest son, August, five years prior. Hargitay partially credits her son for Amaya’s adoption telling media, “August came home from a playdate one day and said, ‘I want a baby Iris.’ Turns out, the playdate he was on, the child had a baby sister named Iris. When he said that, my husband, Peter, and I looked at each other and replied, ‘It is so interesting you said that.’ When we went ahead with the adoption, August thought it was his idea.”
Viola Davis
Little Genesis was adopted by Viola and her husband, Julius Tennon, in October 2011. Davis has coined her little girl as the missing piece to her puzzle explaining to The Telegraph, “I always wanted a child but acting is a very self-focused profession. We’re late getting married, late having children, all of a sudden you stop for five minutes and think, ‘What have I been missing? This is bringing me to my knees, having a child. My grandmother had 18 children. Can you imagine? Even with one, I feel I’m always on survival mode, just trying to get through each day. I never thought that I could feel like such a failure but, at the same time, I’m amazed at how much I feel like the greatest hero alive.”
Sandra Bullock
Bullock adopted her little guy out of New Orleans in 2010. She recently told media that she would be open to adopting more kids if Louis approved. “If all of a sudden my house had eight kids in it, if it was OK with Louis and it felt like a good safe family, I would be fine with that. It would be because that is what my home is for. So it is up to him,” said the star.
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron adopted her “heaven on toast” last year. She celebrated his first birthday near the top of this year.
Kristen Davis
Davis welcomed Gemma Rose into her home in 2011. She discussed the possibility of adopting more kids with Anderson Cooper saying, “I mull it over, but because I’m a single mom, I want to focus on her and make sure I’m doing a good job first.”
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Brad and Angelina have adopted several kids during their careers as entertainers. The couple traveled to Ethiopia in 2006 to adopt Zahara from an orphanage in Addis Ababa.
Madonna
The legendary singer adopted David and Mercy out of Malawi a few years back. The star has four kids in all.
DeMarcus Ware
DeMarcus and wife Taniqua welcomed Marley into their home in 2006. She is big sister to the couple’s son, DeMarcus Jr.
