Daddy do-gooder in action! Kevin Hart recently announced his decision to donate over $200,000 to cash-strapped Philadelphia schools. The comedian informed Instagram fans of his charitable effort on Wednesday (October 30), telling them that Philly has given him much and he, as a result, desires to pay it forward.
“My city made me who I am today,” wrote Hart. “It’s only right that I reach back and help them in their time of need. I’m coming home on Friday,” the comedian added.
Kevin informed the district of his quarter of a million dollar donation via video recording saying, “I just heard about all the trouble the school district is going through. So I took it upon myself to take $250,000 and put it in the school system to buy new computers. Not because somebody told me to, because I love you, and I put on for my city.”
Philadelphia schools have experienced serious financial difficulty that led to steep budget cuts this past year. While districts were able to weather the storm in keeping the doors of institutions open, many had to bypass the opportunity to purchase additional supplies and technology that help kids thrive.
Kevin Hart has two kids, Heaven and Hendrix, with ex-wife Torrei Hart.
