Brad Pitt doesn’t want the concept of slavery in America on Zahara and her siblings’ minds just yet. The actor tells TODAY that he would more than likely not take the majority of his children to see him in his latest role as ‘Bass’ in the upcoming film, 12 Years a Slave.
“It’s one of those few films that cuts to the base of our humanity,” says Pitt. “Maybe [I would let] my eldest [watch the film], right now. I’d rather for the others to get a little bit older and understand the dynamics of the world a little more.”
12 Years a Slave is the story of an African American man, Solomon Northup, from upstate New York who is abducted and sold into slavery in antebellum United States. Northup spends twelve years as a servant, being subjected to both cruelty and unusual punishment for the smallest offenses. The movie is set to hit theaters on October 18, 2013.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have six kids together.
