Forest Whitaker and daughter Sonnet,16, stopped by the 39th Deauville American Festival on August 30, 2013 to catch a screening of The Butler in France. The star actor smiled from ear-to-ear as the cameras captured him with his daughter on the red carpet. Forest and Sonnet chatted with Lee Daniels, a producer of The Butler, before going in to see the film.
To date, the movie that brings the civil rights movement to the big screen has stacked up $79 million in ticket sales. The Butler retained its number one spot in the box office this past weekend, bringing in $20 million from Friday to Monday. The movie, which made its debut on August 16, 2013, is expected to earn $100 million in ticket sales but is not expected to remain in the number one spot this coming weekend, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Forest Whitaker has two kids, Sonnet and True, with wife Keisha Nash. The actor also has a son named Ocean from a previous relationship.
