While some describe parenthood as challenging, Nick Cannon views it as a blast from the past. The ‘America’s Got Talent’ host recently sat down with Parade to talk about his career and family, and was sure to discuss his adventures with the twins that included flying a kite a few weeks ago.
“[Recently], I [flew] a kite with my kid in the middle of the day, even though it wasn’t a weekend, most people don’t get to do that,” said the star. “It’s a good lifestyle—even with our lifestyle, we still get to put family first.” Cannon went on to describe fatherhood as being lots of fun saying, “I think I have more fun with my kids than I’ve ever had. Like I said, flying a kite yesterday – the last time I did that I was a kid! Doing that type of stuff is amazing.”
Although the majority of single-family homes have down time, Cannon told Parade that there is no such thing as family sleep in his house. “We’re a 24-hour household,” explained the star. “Someone is always up with the kids – we get to spend time with each other that way, up with the kids at three in the morning. We’re constantly with each other. A lot of people have nine-to-fives where they have to be away from their family throughout the day, so I think we might even get to spend more time with our kids than most people because we don’t work nine-to-five straight.”
Nick also talked about his wife, Mariah Carey, as a mother gushing, “She cooks for the kids and helps them with their alphabet and their math. She’s so connected and does everything you think a mother would do.”
Nick and Mariah wed on April 30, 2008, and welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan into the world four years later on the same date. The twins celebrated the second birthdays at Disneyland this year.
