Dwyane Wade’s divorce from the mother of his children is officially finalized. The NBA star was granted a legal settlement to the matter on Monday (July 22) that will include giving $5 million along with four cars to ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches. The settlement also includes a “non-disparage” agreement which prohibits either party from belittling the other in public.
Siohvaughn took her disgust to the streets a few days ago, telling reporters and anyone else who would listen that Dwyane Wade prevents her from seeing their kids by scheduling sports events during her visitation times. “The document says I’m entitled to visit with my children. But when I got all the way to Florida, Mr. Wade let me know [that] he was going to have Zaire at some basketball tournament,” said Siohvaughn. “He put him on a team, and the time that his games take place coincidentally are during my parenting time. Now, oops look at that. Right during my parenting time the child has to be at a game. So I said, ‘Well, we have two choices. The child can either develop a relationship with Spalding, and that little round ball, or he can develop a relationship with his mother.”
Wade responded to Siohvaughn’s tirade through his lawyer, James Pritikin, who told media, “The safety and well-being of his children are (Wade’s) main priority. Due to Ms. Funches’ current unstable mental state, her visitation will be determined by the court. Mr. Wade continues to hope that one day he will have a civil relationship with his ex-wife for the sake of their sons.”
Dwyane and Siohvaughn have two kids, Zion and Zaire, together. The couple filed for divorce in 2007 after nearly six years of marriage.
