While many fathers would love the opportunity to name their first son after them, Delonte West is one dad who isn’t looking forward to having a Junior. The basketball player recently told media that his mistakes have made him a laughing stock legend that he doesn’t want his son to carry on.
“All of a sudden the laughter is now coming from the mainstream. Everywhere I look, the joke is on me,” said West. “My son is due in a week. Everybody I know wants me to name my son Delonte Jr. I’m not, though. In today’s world, my son doesn’t need to go to school and get laughed at because of things his father did.”
Delonte was released from the Dallas ‘Mavericks’ in 2012; two years after it was rumored that he had inappropriate relations with LeBron James’ mother and three years after being arrested for being in possession of three guns. West now plays for the Texas ‘Legends’ of the NBA D-League. The former major league star is expecting his first child with his newlywed wife.
