It’s official. Naijiel Hale is a Wildcat. The high school football player recently put on a hoodie that showed off the Wildcats mascot after announcing his decision to attend the University of Arizona during a Nike’s all-star summer event.
The son of the late Nate Dogg was being sought out by several schools which included Boise State and Nebraska because of his incredible ability to play ball. Naijiel made 50 tackles and four interceptions last year, and is currently ranked as the 28th best cornerback in the nation. California, the player’s home, has ranked Hale at the 32nd best player in the state.
Naijiel previously told media that his father’s legacy has inspired him to create a name for himself. “I know a lot of rappers. But I’m not really into that stuff. They’re good people to look up to but in reality, they’re not. That’s what my dad led me to think so that’s all I really want do is make my own name. That’s probably about 90 percent of my motivation is letting people know who I am in a different way,” said the athlete.
Nate Dogg passed away in 2011 after suffering multiple strokes.
