Although many shake-ups have occurred on ‘The View,’ Sherri Shepherd is one co-host who’s staying for the upcoming season. The television personality and comedian recently sat down with Wendy Williams to talk about her career and family, giving the audience lots of laughs along with nuggets of advice.
Sherri couldn’t help but share her son’s experience in meeting the President of the United States with Wendy saying, “You know when the president comes you take your kids out of school. And I took Jeffrey out of school and he had a little meltdown and he was like, ‘I don’t want to take no picture with the president.’ And I said, ‘If you don’t get in there and sit on his lap.’ And then President Obama says to me, ‘Uh is there a problem?’ [and] I was like, ‘There’s no problem just rub his leg. Rub his leg, he’ll be alright.'”
Although she and Lamar have been going strong for more than two years, Sherri told Wendy that the wedding would have been called off if her son didn’t agree with the union. “[Lamar] moved in right before the wedding because he lived in L.A. and I’m a single mother and I have a child,” said the TV co-host. “We were [traveling] back and forth, and I really needed to see how he would be with my son when we had a disagreement or my son climbed all over him. I wanted to see because once you get married you make an investment and it’s harder to leave. [So] I wanted to see that then because if it wasn’t [wholesome] it’d be like ‘bye-bye’ because my son is number one.”
Sherri is looking forward to having kids with Lamar but doesn’t plan on birthing them herself. “You know we’re still trying to have the kids and we’re looking for the drama-free uterus. Not mine because I was on bed rest for a long time with Jeffrey. I had a lot of physical stuff ,” explained the star.
Lamar and Sherri wed on August 13, 2011. Jeffrey is Shepherd’s only child with ex-husband Jeff Tarpley.
