Kanye West may be a public figure but he’s very private about family, especially in terms of his unborn child. The rap star recently told the New York Times that he is anticipating fatherhood and doesn’t intend on making his and Kim Kardashian’s baby a paparazzi child.
“I don’t want to explain too much into what my thoughts on, you know, fatherhood are, because I’ve not fully developed those thoughts yet,” said the artist. ” I just don’t want to talk to America about my family. Like, this is my baby. This isn’t America’s baby.”
Kanye also reflected on his mother, the late Dona West, telling the Times, “My mother was — you know, I have family, but I was with my mother 80 percent of the time. My mom was basically [my family]. Yeah, that’s all I have to say about that.”
Although he didn’t reveal full details about parenthood, West did tell the newspaper that he plans to be a protective father. “One of the things [is] just to be protective, that I would do anything to protect my child or my child’s mother. As simple as that,” said the star.
Kanye and Kim are expecting their first child to arrive some time next month. The couple have been in courtship since last year.
