St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital has a friend in James Fortune. The singer recently visited the medical center in Memphis, Tennessee where he spent time with a 4-year-old boy diagnosed with pineoblastoma. James, along with fellow singer Vashawn Mitchell, made the preschoolers day, surprising and encouraging him to continue in the fight for survival.
Since 1962, St. Jude has researched and treated children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Fortune has been a fervent supporter of the hospital since 2010, telling the press that the medical center has helped save the lives of many children. “When St. Jude’s was established, there was only a 4% survival rate for kids with cancer,” says Fortune. “Now it’s up over 90%. That shows you how important that St. Jude’s work is for our children. My prayer is that everyone would become a partner in hope.”
St. Jude will solicit partnership in its 2013 Radiothon on April 4, 2013. James Fortune and wife Cheryl parent five kids together.
