Submissions close for the distinguished honor on August 31st!<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kid of the Year | The Search has Begun for the Second Annual Kid of the Year!\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HxVd7N_Hx7s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>According to a recent press release, the search has officially begun for the second annual<em> Kid of the Year<\/em>, a multiplatform honor recognizing extraordinary young leaders who are making amazing and admirable contributions in a range of fields, including social justice, science, education and more.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, once again, the show&#8217;s executive producer and host, Trevor Noah, (<em>The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), <\/em>has signed on at the helm and will highlight five honorees, with one outstanding kid ultimately becoming <em>TIME Kid of the Year. <\/em>The luck winner will be featured on the cover of <em>TIME<\/em> and in additional coverage in <em>TIME For Kids<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_331072\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-331072\" style=\"width: 429px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-331072 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/bckonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Time-KofTY.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"429\" height=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bckonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Time-KofTY.jpg 429w, https:\/\/bckonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Time-KofTY-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/bckonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Time-KofTY-187x250.jpg 187w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 429px) 100vw, 429px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-331072\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Credit: Nickelodeon\/TIME<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Last year&#8217;s winner, was 15-year-old Gitanjali Rao. Rao who uses technology to tackle issues ranging from contaminated drinking water to opioid addiction and cyberbullying. Last year&#8217;s finalists included: Rebekah Bruesehoff, a transgender activist working with LGBTQ youth, Hannah Jackson, a criminal justice reform advocate, Jordan Reeves, an advocate for those with physical disabilities, and Elijah Lee, a child abuse and social justice activist.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The <em>Kid of the Year<\/em> recognition has helped me amplify my voice and gave me a global platform to share the need for innovation,&#8221; Rao said in the press release. &#8220;The entire process of selecting the honorees highlighted optimism, kindness, positivity, and shared the work of our generation. Well, now through Aug. 31, you can submit them! Nominations can come from parents, teachers and friends. Nominees have to fall between the ages of 8-16-years-old and have a dedicated focus on creating, standing up and helping to make the world a better place.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the finalists will receive funds to further their respective causes and serve as a <em>TIME For Kids<\/em> Kid Reporter, with exclusive access to a <em>Nickelodeon<\/em> event.
