You may recognize four-year-old Macario Canillas as the little boy named “Jaylen” from the Superbowl Doritos commercial. Here is a little background of the commercial “House Rules” as written by Director Joelle Dejesus:
My first intention is to empower the modern woman, showing that even today’s single mother can still be sexy and enjoy the social elements found outside the circle of motherhood. Second, I wanted to portray a young man’s maturity in dealing with modern day circumstances such as dating a single mother. Last and most important, I believe that even without a father-figure society teaches us that as young men we are not relieved from the responsibilities that come with being “the man of the house” –regardless of how small.
